Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
My first exposure to martial arts was at the age of 14 years, when I studied the art of Judo for a few years, I gave this up to focus on my football. I realised many years later this was a mistake and my real passion was for martial arts. In 2011, I was introduced to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu by my good friend and started training under Master Felipe Alves De Souza and Master Jose Henrique 'Leao' Teixeira, a 6th dan black belt under the famous Gracie organisation. My first major competition came later that year, the English Open, as white belt I managed to achieve the gold, from this moment on, I set myself the goal to train hard and compete as much possible. I wanted to become one of the top fighters in the world and make up for the years that I had lost. In 2014, I had my biggest win, in the home of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Tijuca Tennis Club in Rio De Janeiro, I achieved 'Gold' in the World Masters. In January 2015, I decided to share my passion for the sport and started Triccs Academy and on a very emotional evening on the 14th of December 2016 I achieved my Black Belt. I look forward to sharing my passion for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with you.

I am primarily a strength and conditioning coach, with a background in Muay Thai and Escrima-stick fighting, I now choose to only train in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), it is the perfect martial art for a smaller person, as it relies on leverage and technique rather than brute strength to control and submit your opponent. I have the passion to share the benefits of BJJ with other women in order to empower them physically and defend themselves successfully should the situation arise My philosophy: continual lifelong learning. Time and time again, I’m reminded of the positive effects exercise has on my own physical and psychological well-being, and my respect for what our bodies and minds can achieve with hard work and commitment is ever increasing. As a coach, I will share my enthusiasm with you to help you realise what your body is capable of, for a fitter and healthier life.
“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream”
I have trained in Wing Tsun for over 10 years and come from a strong Leung Ting lineage. In November 2016 I achieved 1st Master Grade and became the only female Master in the Five Elements Wing Tsun Association. I started teaching in 2007 and opened my first School in Dulwich, South London, where I continue to teach. In addition I teach children of all ages in local schools, run women's self defence classes, teach specialist bodyguard classes and demonstrate both in the UK and abroad. In 2011 I performed on stage to a packed audience at the Shaolin Temple in Dengfeng, China alongside the legendary Shaolin Monks. I recently featured in the London Evening Standard, Wing Chun Illustrated and the BBC One Show, as well as a BBC documentary about positive female role models. I hope my story can inspire people, women in particular, to take up martial arts or just be more active in general.
